Didn’t we have a lovely time the day we went to Cardiff!
If your parents / grandparents are as old as I am they will know a song that goes with that first line. Don’t ask them about it. They might actually sing it to you.
I digress.
On Saturday a whole host of Firefly Press authors and more importantly readers made their way to Waterstones, Cardiff for Firefly Day!
A very intelligent window display was on offer in the … erm… window, as window displays tend to be.
Inside there were piles of Firefly books EVERYWHERE. And the readings and activities kicked off!
WARNING – YOU ARE ENTERING A HUGE AMOUNT OF PHOTOS ZONE
Shoo Rayner was there capturing the event with his drawings as well as reading from his books.
This is me. It is scarily accurate.
I’m reading Elen’s Island here – my very own book.
You can spot the Firefly authors Laura Sheldon, Mr Mahli’s Shed and Jon Blake, Thimble Monkey Superstar in the audience.
Sharon Marie Jones reads from her brilliantly magical Grace-Ella: Spells for Beginners.
Huw Davies chats about the hilariously funny Scrambled.
Sharon Tregenza talks about her amazing mystery adventure book The Shiver Stone.
Horatio Clare read from the Branford Boase Award winning Aubrey and the Terrible Yoot.
And after all this and more the day finished excellently with a very busy YA panel.
I managed to muscle in the on the photograph although I have to admit I look a little less polished than the others.
We are all so grateful to the team at Waterstones. So great to see such a busy and fun store filled with people buying books.
And I’m sure you’ll forgive me if I point out that my book is the one with the lovely green and blue cover.
It looks a little bit like this…
Actually quite a lot like this.
And it is the best book ever written. Or so say a lot of people, including, and only, my mum.
Great blog and great day, Eloise. 🙂
It was a fab day. So lovely to see everyone! Thanks to Waterstones in Cardiff and of course Firefly Press and all their glorious authors!
It was a lovely day and so wonderful to meet several other Fireflies for the first time. You really got the kids enthused, as you always do xx
