If any of you have read any of my books, or any of my blogs, you’ll know how much I love the autumn – and my favourite part of that is Halloween.
Yesterday, it was a glorious sunny day and on my way back from leading a class at Gibside, my husband and I stopped and had lunch looking out over the countryside. It was a beautiful view, and felt like the height of summer, but all I could see were ripening conkers and leaves beginning to be washed with orange.
I love sunny days – but autumn is my favourite time of the year. Part of that is down to Halloween and all of the brilliantly spooky fun that there is to be had. Now, I wanted to give you advanced notice (so you can start writing!) that next month I’ll be launching a competition for younger readers who like to write spooky short stories. The winners will have their stories shared over on Book Nurture for Halloween, and on social media, and will win a pile of prizes including signed copies of my books, such as Walking with Witches and books written by me about a haunted school in the Too Ghoul for School series.
They will also win some very special handmade felt Halloween goodies – made by me!
There will be two winners – one in each category – for ages 7-9 and 10-12. So – watch this space, as the competition will be launched from Girls Heart Books next month!
Autumn is a great time of year. 🙂
