ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS… By Emma Carroll

 Dear Santa

As this is a busy time of year for you, I’ve kept my Christmas list simple: BOOKS PLEASE!

Now I know books are heavy and take up valuable space on your sleigh, but I’ve been really really good this year- just ask my mum.

So here’s why I’d LOVE these five books (please…?)

1. Ghosts Of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick. I’m a big fan of Sedgwick’s books and this one’s getting ALL the praise. A Costa shortlisting doesn’t hurt either.

  1. Now You See Me by Emma Haughton. Emma is a fellow Author Allsort, terrier owner, Carnegie nominee AND she lives about 2 miles down the road. All are good enough reasons to want her book, but let’s not overlook the stunning reviews and a thriller plot that sounds amazing.51UnLmXnLIL._SY344_BO1,204,203,200_

  1. Jet The Rescue Dog by David Long. I’m a sucker for any dog story, just so long as the dog makes it to the final page. Not sure that’ll happen in this collection of WW1 animal stories, but it’s a beautiful looking book.

  1. Counting by 7s by Holly Goldberg Sloan. A success on both sides of the Atlantic, Counting by 7s sounds such a heartwarming read. Twelve year old Willow struggles to fit in, yet finds comfort in the number 7. Her relatively quiet life is turned upside down when her adoptive parents are killed in a car crash. The book deals with loss and identity, and again has garnered huge amounts of praise. (a beaut of a cover too!)

  1. The Thirteen Treasures by Michelle Harrison. Harrison won the 2009 Waterstones Children’s Book Prize with The Thirteen Treasures- a truly impressive accolade! The story centres around fairies and a missing girl- that’s all I know so far. Actually, it’s all I need to know. It sounds brilliant. Also, having just finished the edits on my own book about fairies, I’m very keen to read how other writers handle the subject.
