You’re never too old for a good book

When I was a child, I read children’s books. And then I grew up. I began reading adult books, and discovered lots of really brilliant voices and stories. But all the same, I felt that I had lost some of the pure joy and pleasure I felt as a child reader. I missed children’s fiction, and all of the books I wrote ended up being about, and for, children. It was very odd. And then I had a revelation. Just because I was an adult didn’t mean I had to stop reading children’s books. I was still allowed to go into the children’s section of bookshops. As a consumer of books, I could consume whatever sort of book I wanted – and I wanted to read children’s books. Continue reading
